#FineArtFriday – Nick Cave, by Christie Goodwin

Nick Cave

“The art of portraiture is the art of intrinsic storytelling and not of a moment, nor of an asset, but a complete picture, as it were, of you. A true portrait is about more than how we look or where we’ve been. True portraits are like eulogies, they bypass the trivial. This portrait of Nick Cave was taken at his home in Brighton in May 2017. This is a complete picture of Nick because one part of the portrait shows you the kind, funny and playful man who doesn’t want to be the centre of attention and who happily shares the focus with a flower and a hand. The other half of the portrait shows you the man who is most comfortable when he is with his lovely wife by his side.” – Christie Goodwin
