The Nuba

After journeying thousands of miles across the African continent, George Rodger arrived in Kordofan. He photographed the Nuba, an amalgam of many peoples with different cultures and languages, living in the foothills of the Nuba Mountains, for a period of two weeks in 1949. This photograph depicts a group of dancing girls of the Mesakin-Tiwal in Kordofan, Southern Sudan, 1949.
